ABOUT
Based in Victoria, BC 🇨🇦, our wilderness survival & bushcraft instructors bring a wealth of outdoors experience.
Our philosophy is to SurTHRIVE, not just survive.
“Mother Nature is not out to get you. You just have to speak her language, show her respect, and listen to what she’s telling you. Time in the bush does not need be a hardship. If you have the right knowledge, the right skills, and the right mindset, time in the outdoors should be a rewarding, spiritual, and a fulfilling experience.”
It's our goal to provide the very best training for you, your friends and even your family.

Trevor
Owner / Bush Guru
I grew up in Northern Alberta, Canada where I was fortunate to spend my youth camping and exploring, fishing, canoeing remote lakes and everything in between. In the mid 90's I fell in love with back-country camping and alpine mountaineering, a journey that led to living in Banff National Park (Canada) for a number of years.
I have over 25+ years of outdoor experience with much of it while working in Canada's far north and arctic circle. I've also had the unfortunate opportunity to put my survival skills to test on multiple occasions. From a bad helicopter crash in remote northern Alberta to being stuck in a remote arctic location with no food, water and gear for multiple days. Sadly, I've seen the best and worst with not being fully prepared.
I currently live in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island with my wife. Outside of my work and family life, my current outdoor interests are fly fishing on Vancouver Island's amazing streams, exploring every back road I can find, back-country camping and of course, epic mountain drives!
Fun Facts about Trevor:
* Each of the below facts all have great stories that are told around the campfire of our overnight trips!
1. I've spear-hunted wild boar in the jungles of Fiji with native Polynesian hunters. (*Guided trip.)
2. I've caught, cooked and eaten thumb sized coconut grubs - wrapped in banana leaves & cooked with wild board on an amazing tropical beach campfire. YUM!!
3. I've eaten traditional Inuit Muktuk (Inuit: ᒪᒃᑖᖅ) (whale blubber) in Canada's arctic with native Inuit friend & brother of Canadian Inuit singer Susan Aglukark.
4. I've photographed Polar Bears, Muskox, Arctic Foxes & much more in the northern Canadian arctic.
5. I was in a helicopter crash near the border of northern Alberta and the NWT. While badly injured, we all survived but THIS is definitely a campfire story and tale of why thinking you're fully prepared to survive is completely different from actually being prepared to survive.
6. I've been stung twice by scorpions! Once on the ankle and once while building a remote campsite in the Florida Everglades - when a scorpion mother and her nest full of babies, fell onto my neck while carrying a log for camp.
7. I've eaten deep fried scorpions on a stick as revenge!
8. I've been scuba diving in the south pacific (and had a bull shark come check us out!! - (photos available!!)
9. I've been forced to climb trees on two different occasions due to a grizzly bear encounters! Both times ended well.
10. After a frenzied fight with a hand sized wolf spider in Fiji... I learned that I'm terrified of spiders. Hmmmm........
